I keep trying to get my hands around how the MOM -- Message Oriented Middleware -- is going to work. One way I am starting to think about it is based on reading of the BizTalk framework and thinking a lot about how the Microsoft .NET initiative is proposed to work. One of the difficulties I think we have is in imagining the scale of what is being talked about. Consider for example the four machines we got from HP. These machines are valued today at about 60K. In eighteen months they will be worth 30K, in 3 years 15K in six years they will be worth 3K. Now if we imagine building a platform for E'Services that is targeted at aborbing and using the power of these machines which will then be the equivalent of a desktop platform, I think things begin to come more into perspective. Just a thought.
